Some
of the Nigerian players on 28-man list released by the Nigeria Football
Federation on Tuesday for Super Eagles’ upcoming friendly match against
Bafana Bafana of South Africa have celebrated their invitation to the
national team.
The Eagles, managed by interim coach,
Daniel Amokachi, were to host Bolivia at the Akwa Ibom International
Stadium in Uyo on March 26 before taking on Bafana Bafana on March 29 at
the Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit, South Africa, but Bolivia pulled out
of the game late on Tuesday.
Lazio midfielder Ogenyi Onazi, Hull City
midfielder, Sone Aluko, and Hapoel Be’er Sheva midfielder, John Ogu,
were some of the invited players who took to Twitter to express gratitude for their call-up to the national team.
After the list was released, Onazi
tweeted, “Arise O Compatriots! My proudest moments remain the
opportunity to wear the Green-White-Green and represent Nigeria.”
Aluko, who last tweeted on March 11,
wrote, “#SuperEagles time almost here. Excited to be back with the team
next week and to be back in Nigeria. Two good games,” on his Twitter handle on Wednesday.
In his tweets after his inclusion in the list, Ogu was thankful to the NFF, his club and fans for believing in him.
“Thank you to the NFF, coaches, and my
club Hapoel beer Sheva for believing in me and also to my fans for your
prayers. Time to fight.
“Thank You great God for this great opportunity to represent my country again. Always ready to fight. #Blessed,” he tweeted.
